Representation Arrangements for Schengen Visa Issuance

Visa Code states that Member States should be present or represented for visa purposes in all third countries whose nationals are subject to visa requirements. Member States lacking their own consulate in a given third country or in a certain part of a given third country should endeavour to conclude representation arrangements in order to avoid a disproportionate effort on the part of visa applicants to have access to consulates.
When the representation arrangement is concluded, the consulate of the representing Member State accepts applications for short term visas on behalf of the represented Member State in the third country agreed. Applications have to fulfill requirements set by the representing consulate that is also making a decision on granting visas. Applications for long term visas are not subject of representation arrangements and the applicants should submit their visa applications at the respective consulate of the Slovak Republic.
